The deciduous forest is one of the most livable places in the world, providing plants, animals, and humans with the different temperature and living conditions that they need to thrive. These different deciduous forest feature multiple seasons and are known for avoiding extreme temperatures.
There are multiple deciduous forest locations around the world, with each providing similar but unique animal and plant species. Areas that feature deciduous forest locations include the United States, Canada, Europe, China, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, West Asian, and Russia. There are different parts of each of these countries that feature a deciduous forest, with no one country known for being completely deciduous forest as far as biomes are concerned. Europe does manage to be mostly deciduous forest, however, thanks to the proximity of the oceans.
This is one of the major factors that completely affect the ability of an area to be a deciduous forest. These deciduous forest locations are all located right next to a large ocean. This is why most of the Eastern United States is deciduous forest, and why most of Europe is deciduous forest. These different deciduous forest locations have their temperatures completely controlled by the ocean. The changes and the proximity are what create the four different seasons found in these locations.
Changes in Temperature
While all of the different deciduous forest locations feature somewhat similar climates, there are some differences in temperature that should be noted. While some places will see highs of 70 in the summer, others will see highs of 80 or 90. While some locations are going to see highs in the 50s during the winter, others are going to see highs that are below freezing. Each deciduous forest location is unique depending on the exact body of water it is located on and the exact location it is in. For example, the general temperature of the upper west coast of the United States and Canada is higher than the average temperatures found on the east coast of the United States. The temperatures that are found in Europe are going to be different than the temperatures found in China.
Changes in Animals
While there are plenty of different animals and birds that call deciduous forest location home, they are generally not found in each and every biome. You can easily find a platypus in certain deciduous forest locations in the world, but will not be able to find them in others. The United States, along with parts of Canada and Mexico, call the bald eagle home. These are the only locations that are native to the bald eagle, despite similar temperature patterns in all of the different deciduous forest locations.
Precipitation in Locations
One thing that all deciduous forest locations have in common is the climate in terms of precipitation. These different deciduous forests are known for having some of the most precipitation in the world over the course of a year because of precipitation during both winter and spring/fall/summer. These different areas are going to see 30 to 60 inches of rain and snow each year. Some places are more prone to seeing that precipitation in snow form, while others are more likely to see it in rain form.
Deforestation
One of the many problems faced by deciduous forest locations all over the world is deforestation. These locations are known for their incredible wildlife and their incredible plant life. Many people fail to realize that these different locations were once three-fourth larger than they are now. The need for timber and lumber helped to cause the problem, as it led to deforestation in many deciduous forest locations. The wood found through the different plants in the biome is good for strength and beauty, why is why it is so coveted. While there are efforts to help save the shrinking deciduous forest locations, they will continue to get smaller as we continue to use their resources for our various needs.
Many people are surprised to see exactly how far reaching the deciduous forest is, with different deciduous forest locations spanning the globe. Thos who live in certain parts of Australia are going to be able to find something in common with those on the East Side of the United States. The West Coast of the United States will manage to have something in common with Europe, as Europe is able to have with Asia. The deciduous forest brings us all together, providing individuals from multiple countries with the same type of climate and same type of animals.
